The Wiki Sci-Fi Roleplay:
Wiki Science Fiction, Future Fantasy, Modern Fic, Post-Apocalyptic and More!

"The Best Way to Predict the Future is to PLAY it."
-[Nightshadow]

<img350*0:stuff/DividerET.jpg>

     Not a competitor to the Wiki Fantasy Roleplay, but instead a page that picks up where it left off, this guild caters to those avid roleplayers who have an interest in involving technology with well-played, interesting, in-depth role-playing games. The name Wiki Sci-Fi Roleplay (WSFR) is clipped for convenience and not quite accurate...modern fantasy, science-fiction, future fantasy, and ungodly mixes of those are all welcome here.

     Like the Wiki Fantasy Roleplay (WFR), the WSFR is a single, continuous universe, situated in the Jeriah Galaxy. Multiple games can and will run here at once, but each RPG-world exists right next to others, on barriers that can be crossed. They're subject to interact with one another at any time, so stay on your toes. To see who's next to whom--and to put your own position on the map, if you'd like to add a game or open RP location--see the Jeriah Galaxy.

<img350*0:stuff/DividerET.jpg>

     Wait a second...how can there be modern fantasy and sci-fi games right next to each other? This can't be a continuous game!

     Ah, but it is. For convenience's sake, The Planet Earth is now located in the Jeriah Galaxy, as it's rather difficult to get a bird's eye photograph of the Milky Way Galaxy. It's an isolated little planet...what can you expect from a bunch of idiots who can't get farther than their own moon? Modern fantasy games will take place on The Planet Earth, while the affairs of the Jeriah Galaxy are conducted around that poor pathetic little world.

     Further, the WFR world of Jashnia isn't wholly isolated from the WSFR. It's just one member of the Selenar System, which sits toward the end of the B-tail of the Jeriah Galaxy. However, the stellar system has remained somewhat isolated from the rest of the galaxy, as certain political hotbeds choke travel.

     If you do intend to somehow connect a WSFR game to a WFR one, please contact both [Nightshadow] and [xido] with your idea.

<img350*0:stuff/DividerET.jpg>

     To begin playing here as an individual, visit the

WFR Application Page and check out other WFR Guild Members

     Even a well-written game, after all, is worthless without good characters and skilled players. Not everyone who applies will be accepted, but don't let that discourage any new or veteran player from trying. This selection system should keep play at a high level. Criteria for acceptance are outlined more clearly at the WSFR Application Page.

<img350*0:stuff/DividerET.jpg>

     Games are listed at

The Jeriah Galaxy

<img350*0:stuff/DividerET.jpg>

     So now that you're finished reading this for what's probably the first and only time in your life, welcome, play well, have fun, and see the Jeriah Galaxy for what games are available!

2004-05-15 [Nightshadow]: AUXILLIARY PAGES UNDER CONSTRUCTION...pardon the dust!

2004-05-15 [the crazed artist]: *grins* I love the...*thinks of word*...sign thing...looks great...

2004-05-15 [Nightshadow]: Banner thing. lol. Thanks. ^_^

2004-05-17 [Nightshadow]: Excepting individual games...THE WSFR IS OFFICIALLY IN BUSINESS! *looks stunned at the lack of uproarious applause and confetti and wanders away*

2004-05-17 [Nightshadow]: You may now apply at the WSFR Application Page.

2004-05-17 [xido]: *uproarious applause and confetti abounding* :P :)

2004-05-17 [Nightshadow]: lol. Thanks xido. :P

2004-05-18 [the crazed artist]: oh...*applaudes and throws confetti everywhere*...even the slowest pony crosses the finish line...

2004-05-18 [Nightshadow]: I dunno...my pony fell asleep back there somewhere. *glares down the empty racetrack*

2004-05-18 [the crazed artist]: well...eventually it has to wake up doesn't it...but don't worry...I think my fell beast ate my pony *glares at the beast*...

2004-05-18 [Nightshadow]: Hm...yes sleeping is better. *nods* That'll teach it for being slow.

2004-05-18 [the crazed artist]: ...think the snail passed it...that's humiliating...I claim the snail!

2004-05-19 [Dread Pirate]: Howdy. o0;

2004-05-19 [Nightshadow]: Howdy

2004-05-22 [Blood Raven]: uhm... you know what? whatever! *aplaudes and cheers even though he's a few days to late*

2004-05-23 [the crazed artist]: don't worry...I think we were all late...

2004-05-23 [Nightshadow]: Tardiness is a state of life. *nods*

2004-05-23 [the crazed artist]: very much so...

2004-05-25 [xido]: Actually, the games IN The Planet Earth could use some GAMERS.... I just wanted to get some started..... anyone interested should comment on the page they'd like to join in..... And yes, I think we will have some interesting games from what is done thus far..... Woohoo!!! and Huzzah!!!

2004-05-25 [the crazed artist]: I will join...once I manage to create a character...

2004-05-25 [xido]: I just made up a name, and figured I'd make his personality as I go.....and the space one is experimental, really.....just a get-up-and-go wiki, kinda.  :)

2004-05-25 [the crazed artist]: no I have an idea for a character... I just need to get over my laziness and type it up...

2004-05-25 [Nightshadow]: Try sending [JimenaMoon] an invite...her character Jimena is modern.

2004-05-25 [Blood Raven]: I did talk with her, I think she'll find her way soon enough. I could create a modern character, but I haven't even finished my druid for the WFR yet, so I'd like to finish her first

2004-05-26 [xido]: Does anyone know the actual name of the race of alien in the self-named Spielberg film that HRGiger developed the creatures for? They're a good race for RP, and I wish to play one, but I'd like to use the actual name of the species.....

2004-05-26 [xido]: I'm trying to make an Alien-Goa'uld hybrid..... an alien breeder/infector....see Daathis. I'm currently calling the Alien species the Ylilk.....but I want the real name.

2004-05-26 [Blood Raven]: the aliens from the 'Alien' movies? They don't have any other name but Alien I think. I've been thinking about some races which could be added too, and those crossed my mind as well. They don't have any name though. They're practically just parasites which become murderous after growing a bit... The first thingy which comes from the egg is a facesticker, thenyou get smallish Alien, shed skin get big one, which kills lotsa stuff and is very hard to kill itself. I love them :)

2004-05-26 [Blood Raven]: Why not make something like no contact has ever been made with them, and there's only lotsa fighting if they meet other races. Or at least that happened in the past or so. Now when they are accepted and times are less... bloody, they have just gotten the name thought for them when they were at war. AS-185 or something, meaning Alien Species No. 185. All the other alien thingies found before the 185's are stuff like unknown animals and plants or so.

2004-05-26 [Blood Raven]: Besides, the Aliens from he movie never really had a language, although they were intelligent. Maybe they just discuss simple tactics with eachother, in a "they against us" instead or "Humans versus Elves" to name some random example. Thus they wouldn't have any names or something. Call it culture :)

2004-05-26 [Angel Dreamer]: what about the aliens from the Ender's Game and other books? those are pretty interesting species

2004-05-26 [xido]: Good idea, BR, thanks. And, yeah, they're my favorite race too....you know, even on the actual movie sites, they just called them Aliens....I thought that was a little unoriginal....I will make a cool name for them...cooler than Ylilk. Angel, I haven't read that series, but maybe you could describe them a little.....that would be a nice addition for gamers with a passion for the books....

2004-05-26 [Angel Dreamer]: o.o the buggers are warm blooded insects, maybe a little bigger than humans...iridecent wings and multi-faceted eyes are the most common features described, plus they're really smart. not good for playing, come to think of it, since they've got a hive mind (one mind/lots of buggers) highly advanced technology. the pequeinos/piggies are mammalish, with pig snouts, about hobbit size i think. live in forests, which are actually adult piggies cause they turn into trees when they're adults. very intelligent too, but not as advanced as humans.

2004-05-27 [Nightshadow]: All good ideas...I'll take the password off of the sci-fi races page, though, and let you folks write them up yourselves, as I've never seen/read any of those sources.

2004-05-27 [the crazed artist]: ...I'm totally lost...not my fault I never watch sci-fi, or read it (only Dune, because twas an awesome book)... like sci-fi rp's though...WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?!?!

2004-05-27 [Blood Raven]: Dune was awesome, it just describes very little alien races. The only new things are those human-feline halfbreeds in the 6th book. As for the rest there are lotsa bad sci-fi movies with very bad aliens. It's surprising how little directors seem to think about how the critters actually survive or became what they are in the movie. I saw a movie once which has little alien bird-like thingies which only came out at night. There's was like only one night in 14 years cuz the planet had 3 suns. How can something survive underground for 14 years without eating anything and not even be sure there will be somethig outside when they come out, cuz it was quite a barren planet...

2004-05-27 [Blood Raven]: Did anybody see Starship Troopers? Preferably the series, as those were much closer to the book than the movie. Well anyways those were cool bugs :)

2004-05-27 [Nightshadow]: Actually, blood raven, we have cases here on earth where things can go underground for a number of years without eating...can't remember the exact instance I'll try to find the book. Something to do with deserts and frogs that come out when it rains. It's actually a state of suspended animation, and they can remain underground for years without doing anything.

2004-05-27 [Blood Raven]: Yes I know, but I still found it was crap. There were millions of those things. They can't all live 14 years on dust, can they? And if they eat eachother, why don't they do that underground as well? Then again, I didn't see the entire movie, maybe there was some explanation *shrugs*

2004-05-27 [Blood Raven]: I'm just saying we should be carefull with the kinds of alien lifeforms. Could be just me, but I don't like to have opponents or allies which can be simplified to: bullshit. Weird alien races are okay, as long as they are thought over a bit. Please note I'm not saying everything should be biologically, ecologically and evolutionairy correct, I'm just saying I don't like gaint huge land-squids which suck out brains from anything that walks by...

2004-05-27 [Nightshadow]: There are millions of those desert frogs too...eh nm. Point taken, and cool down. lol.

2004-05-27 [Drizzt_Do'Urden]: hmmm

2004-05-28 [xido]: Hey Crazed, maybe you should just take a deep breath.....or two......and be at ease with just asking a polite question about your state of mind.... hehe, you're a quick one to burst.

2004-05-28 [xido]: And I find the idea of beastial, mindless monsters appauling as well, so hail to you, BR. :) I think Cicadas do that, too....only come out every so many years or so. Dune was incredibly detailed, which is what makes it so excellent. I, however, have only been introduced to the first two books, Dune and Children of....and only the first one did I read the book. LOVED the movies. I hadn't thought the rest of them were actually Frank Herbert's...I had thought his son had taken over at one point.....in this case, I am the lost one....

2004-05-28 [Blood Raven]: All the books are pretty good, them just takes a while to read... a long while...

2004-05-28 [Blood Raven]: frank herbert wrote all 6 dune books, and his son wrote 2 others, together with somebody else. called Dune - House of Atreides and Dune- House of Harkonnen. I never read those though. Afraid of being dissapointed.

2004-05-28 [lemondude11]: hey whats up hows it going ?

2004-05-29 [xido]: wow, okay. Sweet, I will want to read them all, and make many movies for many years... :)

2004-05-30 [the crazed artist]: of course I'm quick to burst...I"M CRAZED!!!!...anywho, I HATE it when they ruin the reality of creatures in books through movies...or just the entire reality of the entire thing*cough cough starship troopers cough cough* I have very low opinions of that movie...

2004-05-30 [Blood Raven]: The book Starship Troopers really is way better than the movie. The movie only seemed to have copied the large bugs, and nothing else. The Troopers in the book are entirely different, and better too.

2004-05-30 [Nightshadow]: Well, cicadas are a bit different...they do come out on cue every 14 years (I think that's the number) but live underground in a larval stage before that, eating roots.

2004-05-30 [xido]: Yeah, maybe Starship Troopers wasn't as good a movie as the book, but who could ever live without seeing Casper Van Dien half-naked?  Mmmmmm....*fantasizes* And yeah, cicadas work like that....it's weird.

2004-05-31 [Blood Raven]: 0.o;

2004-05-31 [xido]: *grins* Mmmmmmm, Casper Van Dien............hehehe......I mean, yeah, Cicadas.  >.> X.o)

2004-05-31 [Nightshadow]: One must have one's priorities in order, after all.

2004-06-01 [Blood Raven]: yes, there is this system of ordening, called Chaos. it be really fun ^^

2004-06-01 [Nightshadow]: FINALLY! *ahem* For those of you watching multiple pages, I apologize for your wiki-changes box...it seems that order required for </h1></center> tabs was changed, breaking each and every page here. All should be fixed now...let me know if I missed one.

2004-07-12 [nunt]: *looks at wiki* all seems very complicated

2004-07-12 [Blood Raven]: it's easy once you get it, but it might seem overwhelming at first. You want to join?

2004-07-12 [Romymari]: Join in with the best at the RP Character Contest!!

2004-07-13 [Blood Raven]: again? last time that thing happened nobody won as the judges dissappeared mysteriously...

2004-07-13 [Drizzt_Do'Urden]: hmmm

2004-07-14 [Blood Raven]: so I did, hehehe...

2004-07-23 [xido]: I think there should be a featured hottie of the day..... Casper Van Dien to start with, but some other scifi-star hunk to take his place every so often....? X.op As you said, Ems, its all a matter of priority....and we know what THAT is.  :P

2004-07-23 [Nightshadow]: *smirks but doesn't further respond, because she just knows she'll end up digging herself into a deep hole*

2004-07-23 [xido]: ;P

2004-08-09 [Marksman]: Would a WSRF Recruiting Drive be in any way a breach of Elftown law? ;)

2004-08-09 [Nightshadow]: No. But don't do it in the wrong places lest you rightfully piss off other wiki-owners.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: Hey I have a question for anyone who wants to answer. Do you know if there is a sci-fi like Dungeions and Dragons game out?

2004-08-25 [Marksman]: Lets see... D20 Modern, Shadowrun (completely different engine, really nifty though), the StarWars d20 one... looking for more? Google it; works every time! :D

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: Sweet! I'll have to check those out. I love D&D but I always wanted some sci-fi. Thank you very much

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: *shakes* Wiki Sci-Fi Roleplay! Check it out, I've heard it's nifty! lol...sorry. ;)

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: lol I will. It sounds fun.

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: *wipes brow* Don't scare me like that!

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: I think I might check out some other games before I start play here becuase I'd rather have some experience with this kinda stuff before I jump up and say "except me!"

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: *laughs* Well, feel free. I'm quite willing to work with new players...a couple of the best I know just started recently. Just promise you won't let a bad game elsewhere turn you off to the wiki in general. It gets better. Honest. ^_^ (Why no...of course I haven't had bad wiki-game experiences. -.-;; ) Not that I think all non-guild games are bad...some are great, actually.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: Well what do I have to do to make a character?

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: dumb question I see it now lol

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: *grins* At least you haven't tried to edit things with the comments-box. *did that at first*

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: Oh yea, I haven't done that. Yet lol SO umm do I send my char description to some one or what? I didn't understand that part

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: There's a place where it says "post here"...paste right under the <hr> immediately below that.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: oh ok thanks

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: I'm gonna have to think abou this for awhile. There's too many things lol Are vampires accepted as characters?

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Soitenly. Just so long as it's firmly modern or sci-fi.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: alright sounds great. I'll have to work on this though

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: I wouldn't expect you to magically throw it down in a few minutes, or even a night unless you're as geeky as I.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: There's a chance I might be as geeky as you but I have a lot to do tonight lol I'm leaving tomorrow for college ^_^

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Oh congrats! I did that last thursday. ^_^ It's so stressful right before moving up, though...best of luck with that.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: Thanks. Is this your first year too?

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Yup. *raises her hand**dumb freshman*

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: YAY! Freshman are wasome! lol Are you gonna party hardy? I'm probably not cause I have cool room mates! Band geeks! YAY!

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Band geeks! Yay! I'm actually not in band until next semester...*cries* But I'm a legit art geek. Party...I don't like crowds, groups of strangers, loud noises, or too many drunk people. :/

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: YAY! Yea, I saw that thingyou drew on your page. It's really cool looking. Is that what your major is? I can't stand drunk people at all so that's why I stay away from parties.

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Thanks...and yup. On a last minute decision, so no scholarships involved, I'm an art major. ^_^ I actually have a couple new pieces but haven't yet found a place to scan them up here. What's your major?

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: Yea, I decided to go to college like 2 weeks before high school ended so I am $5k in debt right now lol My major is Communications. I want to do web design ^_^ You should so put your art up soon. I'm sure it's as cool as the two you got up now.

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Meh...hopefully. Tried watercolor, using a drow char of mine. Ah, yes...debt. Fun stuff, I empathize. But good for you! And communications...like, mass comm? Or what?

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: It's all different kind of stuff. Like journalism and TV production. But I'm going with web design. I've been doing it for about 3 years now. It's a lot of fun.

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Ohh right, you said that. *smacks self in head* Ignore me, I'm special.

2004-08-25 [Nightshadow]: Anyway, I automatically assume mass comm just because my mom's a producer at the local news station.

2004-08-25 [Leper Khan]: No smack smack the head lol. Oh yea, that's cool.

2004-08-31 [Talvikki]: hello! i'm going to join, i'm addicted to rpg's (maybe you shouldn't have messaged me Nightshadow lol)

2004-08-31 [Talvikki]: mwahaha! i am a sophomore. but i also don't like parties and drunk people.

2004-08-31 [Nightshadow]: Addicted to roleplaying? Talk about preaching to the choir. Do you know how bloody long it took to write these pages? :p

2004-09-01 [Blood Raven]: lol, I think we've got more addicts then sane people here to be honest :P

2004-09-07 [xido]: You're gonna major in Art, Em? What kind of focus? Any long-term ideas for that? I'm going in for Interior Design at the moment. And, yes, I have to agree that this one is preaching to the pope, in my case. But can't someone be an addict and sane at the same time? Hmmmm, okay maybe not..... x.op

2004-09-08 [Cougar]: *laughs at xido* i hope you are going to dragoncon... i know you will be a kid in a candy land... <~~cougar would be too for that matter~~>

2004-09-08 [Nightshadow]: Yup, it's my listed major. And nope. Not really. Just want to learn all I can about my greatest love after chocolate, cheesecake, and thanksgiving stuffing. A surprising number of jobs don't care what your degree is in, only that you have one, so I'm going with that theory.

2004-09-22 [xido]: I would hope that that is true. Nope, didn't get to go to DragonCon.... Though my fave author had a set of panels, etc there this year.... :(

2006-03-14 [iippo]: This wiki is linked from RPG Realm, which is an exported page. Would you please export this page (or ask me to do it for you if you don't know how) so out-of-ElfTown people will also be able to view this page. If you don't wish your page exported, let me know. Thank you.

2006-03-15 [xido]: I believe it's under Nightshadow's name.... For now, I'd like to keep it that way, but I am still thinking of ways to fully integrate this page and the WFR into a single guild structure.... But yes, all WFR/WSFR pages should be exported for now... Hey Emily, check out Wiki Fiction Roleplay... An idea I am scoping for us.

2006-03-16 [Nightshadow]: All-encompassing, yes? Very nice. ^_^ I think full integration is a fabulous idea, really. WSFR doesn't have the support to stand on its own, really, but the possibility of guild supported and moderated sci-fi games is important-ish to not leaving people out.

2006-03-19 [xido]: Agreed. ;) So glad it is so easy for us to be on the same page. I would like to incorporate all Guild Members into one page and List, and all other genre-specific info (like races and classes, etc) can be dealt with on the Sci-fi specific pages. Aside form that, yeah, I'd love to keep us all in one group. Our diversity is actually limiting our Scifi appeasement and involvement. ;) We will work more on this as time goes by. School just started for me, so do as you wish, and I will clean up after if necessary. I trust you. That, and we will do more on WFR Rules & Guidelines I think.

2006-05-13 [The Dizzy Raven]: (can I join this? ^^)

2006-05-14 [Blood Raven]: of course you can :)

2006-06-04 [xido]: I would ask that, until [Nightshadow] is able to return full-time once more, we shoudl have any applicants that wish to join the Scifi portion of the Guild apply the way it is currently set up UNTIL we have a better method, where they can apply and join from the same WFR Application Page platform as our other members. At some point, we will be doing a full integration of the Fantasy and Scifi Guilds into a single Guidl listing. We may have them apply on separate pages, or we may just designate people as fantasy- or scifi-friendly application checkers.... Not sure yet. Give me some input if you have any. More will be done when Emily can manage sneaking in every so often (homework kills).

2006-11-14 [Veltzeh]: So, what did it mean those in contestants need to only apply with a wiki page? I thought I'd finally attempt joining. X)

2006-11-15 [xido]: I made that comment to invite you to the Guild. Do you have a Sci-Fi character page you could link me?
-will

(I will be asking [Nightshadow] for permissions to this page, since she is full of life business and on permanent leave, so please be patient.)

2006-11-15 [Veltzeh]: I have several... If I link you to a character bio, do you consider that character the one I want to play? Because I'd rather make a new character.
Still, the stuff about people on contestants applying with just a wiki page is confusing me. X) Applying with a wikipage... as opposed to what?
The obligatory question: I can make my own species, right? I'm always stuffing my epicines everywhere, you can't escape them! XD
Also, the telepath stuff is slightly confusing, especially the playing "auditions" on the Make me a psion! page.

2006-11-15 [xido]: If you would like to make a new character, that is fine.
Normally we ask first-time applicants to apply by posting their character bio as text on the WFR Application Page, so that all members can make open comments while it is being reviewed, then our mods give the char a wiki page and a player page for multiple characters.
The bio is just part of the process though, and since the contestants have already proven their writing skill, I have forgone this step for these people.
Yes, please feel free to make your own playable race, but please also make an info wiki for them, so that other players may also use them. If you have any stipulations on this point, make sure that that is also written, so that no one uses your ideas without permissions.
We mainly use the auditions for psionic characters because there was originally a fear that telepathic/telekinetic/etc character would powerplay in wiki RPs. This has occured, so I still enforce it.... But I trust your abilities because of our discussions together about RP info. Also, [Nightshadow] was the one who conducted the auditions, and I do not have much time to do so... So I will bypass this rule for now. ;)
-will

2006-11-16 [Veltzeh]: Do you really mean WFR Application Page, or did you mean WSFR Application Page?
Hah, I can't powerplay even with a telepath unless totally given permission. And even then I feel uncomfortable doing it. >_>
Oh, and since this is a concern of mine... can I totally ignore magic here? One of the reasons I'm looking so much toward sci-fi is because I hate magic and I'd just like to play without it.

2006-11-17 [xido]: All applicants will soon be asked to apply to the WFR Application Page, which will be active for all members of the Wiki Fiction Roleplay. You just so happen to be the first member to apply since that change went into place. Your username and character application will be posted to the WFR Guild Members page because of your Contestants Finalist status. For all SF concerns, please simply post your normally Scifi-oriented information, and it will be carried over when I have full permissions for this and all WSFR pages.

Magic does occur in future fantasy games, which we do allow, but so far no interest has been placed in this genre of wikis, so no, you will not have to deal with any magic. However, if technology is your thing, this may be better for you... I have had previous issues with making technological advancements in Scifi wikis sound credible and realistic as opposed to magic, but that is me.

2006-11-27 [Veltzeh]: That date format is so screwed and illogical. Can't we just use ET's format? X)

2006-11-27 [xido]: Why do you say that? I also know others from your country who feel this way about certain formatting traits, so I wonder if it is a cultural phenomena?

I personlly think that Emily posted it in that fashion, because the periods make it look more SciFi, but if it is the arrangement to year-month-day format, that can be fixed easily. Honestly, some 'updates' are old phenom now, and can be dismissed too, but that will have to happen as I find more time for this page, or a Moderator begins to work with it on a regular basis again. I am now getting a feel for how to best lay out the Wiki Fiction Roleplay text and titles (See my last night's re-working of Wiki Fantasy Roleplay for an idea of this), and how I will format all main WFR pages to be more alike and representative of the current state of the Guild, which has come pretty far from where we were only a couple years ago.

2006-11-27 [Veltzeh]: Yeah, it's mostly cultural, but in all respected sci-fi shows (as far as I know) as well as most of the logical world, the date format is logical ( year -> month -> day or maybe day -> month -> year). It just makes more sense to go from biggest to smallest or vice versa.
And a period more sci-fi? Sounds like a personal preference to me... All Finnish dates are by default like 28.11.2006 so periods are very boring to me, heh.

2006-11-27 [xido]: And amazingly enough, as an American, we see it daily as Month ##, Year, and then abbreviated as MM/DD/YYYY... So for us, it is common to see it that way. I would not even know there was an international issue with it aside from small ones on the Wiki... *shrugs*
In contrast, periods look techy to me, and dashes and slashes very mundane (M-D-Y & M/D/Y). We could make it crazy, and say ^YYYY'MM"DD... :?

2006-11-27 [Veltzeh]: I'm a fan of just putting it in a string 8 numbers long. 20061128! Just as good! ;D That's about as techy as it gets. Well, unless you use number of seconds from the year 1970 onwards.

2006-12-05 [xido]: Exactly! :P

I have a favor to ask: Are you into making graphics at all?

I need two dividers made for this and all SciFi official pages, that would correspond to the ones I am using for the Wiki Fantasy Roleplay-specific and Guild official pages... I want the SF portion to have its own, so it is more obvious that it is different from the fantasy portion.

I am using these two for the WFR pages:

and

<img:http://elftown.lysator.liu.se/stuff/banner%2042.gif>
<img:http://elftown.lysator.liu.se/stuff/banner%2042.gif>

I want to have two dividers that will look more SF than these though... I was thinking of the first one (with the black outline) being a yellow&black striped divider to look like caution tape, and the second one (the stone with no border one) being a similar starry-skied clipping, like the background on the WSFR tag:

<IMG:http://elftown.lysator.liu.se/img/drawing/4436_1084593155.jpg>

I was hoping that they could be the same size as these Elftown Graphics dividers, so that they line up the same way... ;)

Any help with this would be appreciated, because I have so much on my plate right now to begin with... ;)

2006-12-05 [Veltzeh]: Well, personally I hate graphics with a passion, but I could make some, I suppose...

Artistry is my life, so I must faint! *faints*

*revives*
Understandable. It is not necessary, just something I would like to give all the WFR pages a semi-uniform appearance....

I personally feel that [Nightshadow] did wonderfully with that image above when we were first up and running here... <img:44166_1164903263.gif>

2006-12-19 [xido]: What are your thoughts on that format, Veltzeh? (I must learn your first name soon. I have a terrible habit of only remembering usernames or faces. Mine is Will.)

I am thinking night sky and yellow caution tape. I am not sure about the other divider piece, because I just realized that it is the same as the fantasy portions, and gives me the wrong impression.

2006-12-19 [Veltzeh]: What format?
You should call me Vel or Veltzeh... (heck, as far as you know, that COULD be my first name!)

2006-12-20 [xido]: Alright, Veltzeh... :P

I am talking about the new format and layout of this very page... I have changed it now again... I need a second opinion on the banners up top. There are three of them in a row. I only want one. Which one fits the part the best: 1, 2, or 3?

2006-12-20 [Veltzeh]: Well, first of all, having both indentation and a vertical space between the paragraphs is very very wrong. I still don't like graphics and I don't know how they "fit", but I think I like the old picture of a galaxy the best. I could of course make a new one, but I'd need instructions (and free time). X)

2007-02-04 [Marksman]: Eeeeeeeee....

Life is very cluttered for me at the moment, so though I hope to help ya'll in the near future, it's not as likely as I'd hope :(

Good to see the WSFR still exists, though! ^^;

2007-03-26 [xido]: Absolutely. ;)
Sci-Fi Factions is now the SF Clan of the Elftown Clans

2008-09-01 Rick: Really good site!

2008-09-11 [xido]: Thanks! Glad you like. Now you should join and help make some more wonderful RPGs so people will return from the wintery depths of Limbo.
